Ravensridge
is this year's winner of the Fremont Centre Theatre's New
Playwrights Contest.
The play
concerns a steel mill lockout in West Virginia that drives
a disenfranchised American steelworker to make a desperate
trip to Russia to reach the mill's expatriate owner. When
the steelworker is accused of murder, he faces a disillusioned
ex-communist cop. Two men divided by history, in search for
the truth, force "freedom" and "sacrifice"
to take on unexpected new meanings.
